The movement to make computer science a regular part of the K-12 curriculum at all levels鈥攅lementary, middle, and high school鈥攊s gathering momentum in very influential circles.

In July, more than 500 top business, nonprofit, and education leaders sent a letter to the governors and lead education officials in all 50 states urging them to make sure K-12 students have access to computer science education. Yet only 5 percent of high school students study computer science, and only about half of high schools in this country offer classes in the subject.
