Developing financial support from multiple channels provides us with greater stability, which allows us to pursue our mission of serving the field.
Independent, high-quality journalism does not come cheap. Advertisers are selected by our team for delivering relevant products or services that aim to benefit educational professionals. We see this as an additional way to serve our readers while contributing to our mission of creating high-quality journalism about K-12 education.
In short, no. While we would love to be able to keep the wheels turning without charging the reader, the money we receive from advertising revenue is not enough to sustain our organization and fulfill our mission.
We seek and accept grant funding from the philanthropic community that reflects a similar commitment to improving K-12 education for all children. Foundation grants provide general operational support for Education Week and also help to underwrite specific lines our independent news coverage and research, over which our newsroom retains full editorial control. Partnering with Education Week allows philanthropic organizations to elevate awareness and understanding of critical educational issues that are integral to their missions.
