Amarius Reed is an Elementary Mathematics Coordinator with Atlanta Public 69传媒 Office of Mathematics, who is passionate about student-centered instruction. With 22 years of experience teaching, Amarius believes in making a positive impact on children, not just in mathematics, but improving the quality of education in innovative ways. She鈥檚 also a self-published author of historical fiction, providing a heartwarming story and hopefully a historical context to explore mathematics.
Karon Akins
Administrator, Riverside County Office of Education
Karon Akins is an administrator with the Riverside County Office of Education, specializing in TK-12 curriculum, instruction, and formative assessment with a focus on mathematics, equity, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). With 17 years of experience spanning teaching (4th grade through Algebra & Geometry) and administration, Karon advocates for transformative shifts in how mathematics is taught, the values that guide education, and the data used to drive meaningful change.

Brandon Smith
Product Director, MIND Education
Brandon Smith is the Lead Mathematician and Product Director at MIND Education, where he creates experiential learning programs for people of all ages, both in and out of the classroom 鈥 including two patent-pending. Over the past several years, he has focused on developing innovative projects to close what he calls the math 鈥渆xperience gap,鈥 where children have insufficient exposure to math in their daily lives. These projects include interactive exhibits and games for math fairs, camps, and family math nights. Early in his career at MIND, he designed mathematical requirements for the game-based ST Math庐 software and led the national roll-out of the sixth-grade ST Math curriculum. Smith co-authored a paper in Cognitive Science Research Principles & Implications and has written for the Huffington Post and presented at ISTE. Prior to joining MIND, Smith was a college instructor, where he won an outstanding teacher award and was an educational liaison for the City of Costa Mesa to Windham, Australia.
