Ed-Tech CEOs Speak Out

The leaders of three ed-tech companies talk about the challenges of working with K-12 schools and how they expect to see the marketplace evolve in the future.

"I'm so energized and optimistic about where our public schools are headed. A lot of it's because of what's happening with education technology and the impact it has. You're seeing great pockets of instruction and improved student outcomes.... We're finally giving teachers the tools to excite and engage kids."

"My view is that you have to earn your stripes. You have to be worthy of the trust of the school. They're making a pretty significant commitment when they bring in your technology or services to the classroom. They don't want their kids to be lab rats. They want research to show it's efficacious."

"The biggest thing you need to do as a company is understand schools' pain points....You can build a gorgeous product, it can be research-proven to be effective, but if it is not easy for teachers to use in the classroom, if it doesn't fit the kind of work that they are doing, it is all for naught."
