The U.S. departments of Justice and Education recently , lifting federal enforcement of a policy that required schools to:
- Allow transgender students to use restrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity, even if it differs from their biological sex;
- Use students’ preferred pronouns and names on school forms;
- Keep students’ transgender status private unless they wish to disclose it; and
- Honor a student’s gender identity in assigning them to sex-segregated classes and activities.
