In a trend buoyed by new technology purchased to accommodate the remote learning necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic, educators are increasingly using devices and apps to teach core subjects, including math. This report examines perceptions and experiences of teachers, principals, and district leaders around the use of such tools for math instruction.
The results are based on an online survey administered by the nonprofit, nonpartisan EdWeek Research Center during the spring of 2023. Charts are used to tell the story of math technology use.
The report begins with a series of charts based on survey questions that asked math instructors (including those who taught math either full or part-time during the 2022-23 school year) about the quantity and quality of their math technology. It ends with several charts detailing teacher and administrator perceptions of incorporating Artificial Intelligence into math.
