The Los Angeles Unified School District has paid $3.75 million to settle a lawsuit with the vendor of a software system designed to track attendance, grades, schedules, and other student data, officials said.
The agreement, disclosed Sept. 18, came after a two-year court battle between the LAUSD and Maximus Inc. and Harris Education Consulting, which developed the student-information system. The district spent $112 million developing the system, but never fully implemented it.
In 2012, it filed an arbitration demand against the vendors, followed by a lawsuit. District officials argued the system was late and problem-ridden. A panel of arbitrators ruled against the district.
